We’ve just released an update for Fiscal Hosts which enables you to indicate if your accounting categories apply to operational funds (Your Organisation) or to managed funds (Money held on behalf of Collectives). This applies to all accounting categories (expenses and contributions).
This effects expense categorization, since the list of possible accounting categories is now shorter and depends on who is paying the expense. If an expense is submitted to a Fiscal Host, the list of accounting categories will only include categories related to operational funds.
If an expense is submitted to a hosted collective, the list of accounting categories will only include categories related to managed funds.
There is no way for us to know in advance which categories are which (hence the project). So, if you have utilized accounting categories before, these have all been marked as “managed funds” and you will need to review your chart of accounts and manually indicate and update those that are related to operational funds.
Thanks for the detailed update on the Chart of Accounts changes! 📊 It’s great to see OpenCollective evolving its financial structure with more transparency and flexibility. These improvements will definitely help communities and contributors better understand where funds are going — much appreciated! Looking forward to seeing how this enhances reporting and clarity across the board. 🙌
By the way, during a break from budgeting tasks, I revisited the Summertime Saga APK— it still delivers that nostalgic, story-rich experience. 🎮 The characters, missions, and quirky humor make it a fun escape from the usual grind. It's impressive how an indie game continues to build such a loyal fanbase!
Really appreciate the clarity in this update — modernizing the Chart of Accounts is a big step, and it’s great to see OpenCollective making accounting more accessible and transparent for everyone involved. These kinds of thoughtful improvements make managing and tracking funds so much easier for communities and collectives alike. 🙌📘
On a lighter note, I’ve recently been diving into the Alano DT 5 Online Earning Game, and I’m genuinely impressed. The UI is clean, gameplay is intuitive, and the earning system actually feels rewarding instead of gimmicky. 🕹️💰 It’s perfect for winding down while still doing something productive. Honestly, it’s a solid example of how casual games are evolving into real-time earning platforms.
The recent update to the Chart of Accounts by Open Collective provides a streamlined way to distinguish between operational funds and managed funds for more accurate expense categorization. This enhancement significantly improves financial management by ensuring expenses are appropriately classified based on who is responsible for the payment. Reflecting on this from experience, much like measuring a 5 inches object accurately is crucial in various practical tasks, accurately categorizing funds down to their specific type enhances precision in accounting processes. This update emphasizes the importance of clear differentiation, whether in measurement or financial categorization, to achieve better organization and control.
