Action may be required: (if applicable) please confirm if your project was contacted by OSC
Published on October 20, 2025 by Grace

As part of our hosted project cleanup process, we are sharing this update here because it allows us to reach all hosted project admins in one final attempt. We are not tagging or naming individual projects in order to respect privacy and ensure each project has the opportunity to respond directly through the appropriate channels.

Please note: receiving this message does not necessarily mean your project was contacted as part of this process; this communication is being sent to all hosted project admins for transparency.

Outreach Efforts

Projects were included in this outreach if any of the following applied:
  • No clear open source license was present on their linked repository
  • No visible activity on a linked repository for 1 year or more
  • The linked repository had been archived
  • No repository was linked to the project

We have used multiple communication channels to meet projects where they are, and projects that met our outreach criteria have already received at least three direct messages through Open Collective, email, or, in some instances, GitHub.

What You Need to Do

If you are an admin of a hosted member project, please check your inbox for messages from grace[at]oscollective[dot]org or hello[at]oscollective[dot]org with subject lines including:

  • Open Source Collective Check-In
  • Quick Check-In and Action Needed
  • Hi from Open Source Collective – Action Required
  • Fiscal Sponsorship Termination Notice

Deadline

If you have received one of these messages, please respond by October 31, 2025 to maintain your fiscal hosting. Failure to do so may result in the termination of fiscal hosting.

Thank you for your prompt attention.

Hi Grace - I don't think we have received a message like this, but I've had a close family bereavement and it may have passed me by. I would assume I wouldn't have missed it, but I keep a clean inbox and junk folder, so it's not outside the realm of possibilities that it may have got deleted accidentally. Given the gravity of the topic, I would hope a second attempt at contact could be expected? Thanks!

Hi Neal, sorry for your loss. I can confirm your project was not included in the original outreach project, so all good.

Thank you halx99! I wasn’t able to find Axmol Engine in our contact list, so everything should be fine. If you still have the email we sent, though, could you forward or reply to it? I’d be happy to review how the collective was contacted.

I don't think we received a message. Thanks.

Hi Grace.

We have not received a message like this, but your message is highly worrying for any project that is with OC. We did obviously receive the message announcing this though.

Regardless, can you confirm that our project is not on the list and what to do if it is (as the project still operates under an OSS license)?

thanks.

Hi,
I also haven't received such message.

Good day

Our project is OpenIPC.org, and we haven't received any emails from the addresses you provided.
However, our projects are located at https://github.com/openipc if you'd like to check them out.

Hi. Grace,

Thank you for your message and for keeping us informed.
I am writing to confirm that our project, Open5GS, has not received any direct outreach from OSC so far.

Please note that Open5GS is an active open-source project, and we continue to maintain and publish updates regularly on our GitHub repository.

Additionally, our repository clearly includes the AGPL-3.0 open-source license, which has been present and visible for several years.

Please let us know if any further steps are required to ensure our fiscal hosting remains in good standing.

Hello Grace, we have not received such a message.

If you or other project admins did not receive one of those emails, your project was not part of the outreach and no action is required. I’ve double-checked and confirmed that SkyLearn is not impacted, requires no action, and remains in good standing.

Hey David, apologies that this caused you concern. We must be able to reach the admins of each project we host, and some admins haven’t responded to our multiple attempts. Sending this update on the platform was our final attempt at contact to those admins.

I found this reach out very confusing as it was unconditionally sent to everyone.

I thought our project was affected by this, but after re-reading the mail again, it was clear that only projects were affected that received a separate warning mail. So, I assume our project is safe.

We have not received messages with the mentioned subjects. Hopefully this means that our oss-code-ge community is in good standing/
